SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. (AP) - The law enforcement division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has named Cpl. Greg Wade of Tift County as the 2014 Ranger of the Year.

DNR Commissioner Mark Williams says Wade and runner-up Cpl. Jeremy Bolen of Muscogee and Talbot counties share the "common characteristics of leadership, teamwork, dedication and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done."

Wade is known for his work in waterfowl protection, boating safety and investigations. He's also a member of the Georgia Counter-Terrorism Task Force and trains frequently on tactical maneuvering and the use of specialized equipment.

Bolen has won numerous awards in his 12 years with the division. He and his K-9 partner, Ruger, are ambassadors for promoting boating and hunting safety through education programs and speaking engagements.
