96 City Hall checks bounced

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

Dozens of city of Atlanta employees left City Hall last Friday thinking their bi-weekly check had been deposited, but it hadn't. The checks they wrote started bouncing all over town.

“Went in to check my account and it was a Saturday morning and it said I could not utilize the funds for a couple of days,” said one employee.

Nearly 100 government checked issued by Atlanta City Hall were returned by the Wells Fargo Bank.

City Hall officials call the issue a computer glitch.

One worker's attempt to purchase a home was rejected because her account didn't have sufficient funds and she lost the home.

Workers are being issued a second check and can be reimbursed for penalty fees.
