Goodwill in Texas finds morbid discovery among donations

Posted: Updated:
AUSTIN, Texas - A morbid discovery was made at a local Goodwill in Texas.

A human skull was discovered by an employee alongside a pile of donations left at a thrift store in central Austin. Detectives say the remains were found back in July, but could have been there as early as January.

They're currently investigating the incident trying to find out who brought the skull into the store.

Fascinated customers want Goodwill to put the freakish finding back on shelves and make it available for sale.

"We don't think there's any kind of criminal activity that's involved in this. We believe it belonged to the person who donated it," says Detective Derek Israel.

"People donate all sorts of things to Goodwill -- prosthetic limbs, breasts, ashes - it's a collector's paradise," says Traci Berry of Goodwill.

A local medical examiner's office has determined the skull is from an adult, who may have died two years ago.

Goodwill says it does not keep a record of who donates what to their stores.
