Pranna to end 'boozy brunch' after viral video

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Video posted on YouTube showing young women and men who appear to be stumbling and drunk coming out of the restaurant Pranna in the flatiron district is why angry residents packed into a community meeting to complain Wednesday night.

Neighbors say problems have been happening on Saturdays and Sundays during a so-called bottomless brunch, where patrons can drink as many drinks as they want in a two-hour period.

Pranna has applied to renew its liquor license. Many residents told the community board, which has influence with the state, they don't want it renewed.

Even some board members accused Pranna of running not a restaurant but an unlicensed nightclub showing his video posted on Instagram of loud music and dancing.

By the end of the meeting Pranna's owner agreed to get rid of the bottomless brunch and just serve regular sit-down brunch instead. He also agreed to lower the music volume and establish a clear policy with the staff about not over-serving customers.

The community board is going to ask the state to put the liquor license renewal decision on hold for a few months to see if Pranna's owner keeps his promises.

Modern dancers, writhing half-naked in front of giant weather-themed video installations. Miley Cyrus, not twerking, but working — in a new gig making jewelry with children's beads. A guy mowing a fake indoor lawn in a suit, top hat and fishnet tights. We didn't need to tell you that Fashion Week isn't only about hemlines and tailoring, did we? Some weird or wonderful (and sometimes both) moments of New York Fashion Week...
