LEGO To Build House Structured Like Its Bricks

Posted: Updated:

Who doesn't remember playing with LEGOs as a kid? Well, soon there'll be a house made entirely structured like the LEGO blocks.

The one-of-a-kind house is being constructed in Denmark.

Creators of the house say it will be the one place in the world where visitors can experience the LEGO story and get inspired by LEGO's rich history.

The head of LEGO House, Soren Lund, spoke with FOX News about the end result.

"It's going to look like it's been made out of LEGO bricks from a distance," Lund said. "When you get closer, it actually looks like it's going to be made out of a lot of white LEGO bricks."

He said the dimensions of the bricks used are exactly the same dimensions as the LEGO bricks, but obviously the size is slightly bigger.

"But you can say we have a internal what we call 'Idea House,' which is more for our employees, which is telling the company history" Lund said. "There's a few external people that have been allowed in, some fan groups and so on, to see this. And there's been big pressure to do more of that and for more people to come in and see that whole history of LEGO. That started some ideas of maybe we should do something extra, maybe we should do something for all the fans out there. That together with the idea of saying, 'Why not build a house that encompasses everything the LEGO idea is all about?' So, really get that deep, intense, dive into billions of LEGO bricks and have a great experience."

"That, one step by another, actually ended up to where we are today, putting the foundation stones – foundation bricks down as we called them – to start this great new building," he said.

LEGO House is expected to be open to the public at the end of 2016.
