DETROIT (WJBK) - Little Kaylah Hunter and Kristian Justice are still missing from Detroit months after their mother, Alicia Fox, was found murdered. Now, some volunteers pray that a new discovery might be the hope the children's family has been waiting for.

The children have been missing since June. Fox's husband, Erin Justice, was arrested in Georgia and has been charged with her murder.

Police, family and volunteers have searched countless times for the children. Time has passed but two women received a message they truly believe was meant to be.

"We had gotten a tip from a person on Facebook that there was a deceased female dog on West End and Vanderbilt and there was a live white pitbull that was sitting next to the dog in the middle of the road," says Kathy Garza of the Southwest Animal Group.

The white pitbull, now called Ponder, had been abused. The Southwest Animal Group got him the medical care he needed and tried every means manageable to find his owners, when he got word from Fox's family that this dog belonged to their loved ones.

"We met up with the family and the dog, and it has been positively identified that this dog does belong to the family of Alicia Fox and the missing children," says Garza.

"The meeting the other day, there was a connection. He knew those people. It's like, 'What else do you know?'" says Lisa Tipler, also from Southwest Animal Group.

"If only dogs could talk," says Garza.

Ponder is now safe with a foster family. Fox's relatives, did not have the heart to take Ponder back, but were happy to see he was in good condition.

Detroit police have looked for a connection between where the dog was found and where the missing children could be. They have not uncovered a link, though.

Garza and Tipler say they plan to continue looking and hope to gather people to search the area where the dog was found.
