Officer hit by car on Detroit's west side, suspect shot

DETROIT (WJBK) - A police officer hit by a car after a traffic stop, shot the fleeing suspect on Detroit's west side Friday.

Fox 2's Ryan Ermanni was at the scene near the intersection of Warren Avenue and 31st Street, where he took a photo of a red vehicle flipped over.

Ermanni reports police pulled over a woman who was driving the wrong way down a one-way street. The police noticed drugs in the vehicle, and the woman tried to drive away.

When she drove away the officer was still attached to the vehicle and was dragged.

Ermanni reports the officer tried to break away and shot the woman who was trying to get away.

Ermanni reports the officer is okay.
