Law enforcement buys new scooter for disabled woman who had hers stolen

Posted: Updated:
A thief stole a disabled woman's expensive scooter - but now some members of local law enforcement are pitching in to help.

Earlier this week someone stole Kathy Ladd's motorized scooter at Park Place Towers in Mt. Clemens while she was at church with her sister.

The scooter is the only way that Ladd, 62, gets around.

After learning about Ladd's hardship - Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith - and sheriff Anthony Wickersham are personally coming to the rescue.

Thursday they presented ladd with a new scooter at her home.

The search is still on for a man caught on security cameras - suspected of stealing the scooter.

Anyone with information about the suspected thief  is asked to call the Macomb County Sheriff's Office at (586) 469-5151.
