Synthetic drug dealer in Mankato deaths arrested in Chicago suburb

Posted: Updated:

A man suspected of selling synthetic drugs linked to two deaths in Mankato, Minn. was arrested Monday morning in a Chicago suburb. Tyler Anthony Caputo, 21, of Mankato was one of 4 people arrested in March in connection with the deaths of 17-year-old Chloe Moses and 22-year-old Louis Folson.

Caputo had been the subject of a nationwide search after warrants were issued for his arrest in Minnesota for third-degree murder and sale of a controlled substance. He was arrested at 9 a.m. Monday in Harwood Heights, Ill. and booked into the Cook County Jail, awaiting extradition to Minnesota.

Louis Folson death

On March 5, Mankato police and paramedics were called to a home on Glenwood Avenue after 22-year-old Louis Folson stopped breathing. Folson was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead.

Chloe Moses death

On March 8, Mankato police and paramedics were called to a home on East Pleasant Street, where 17-year-old Chloe Moses was having a seizure. She was taken to a local hospital, then transferred to a Twin Cities metro hospital, where she died.

The drugs
and blue baggies

Officers recovered a similar blue baggie from both homes. Police said in both cases the bags were covered with gold, king's crown images. Investigators believe the drugs involved in these deaths may be a synthetic psychedelic called 2C.
