Tech Talk: Wedding tips replace concept of disposable cameras

Posted: Updated:

It's not just the styles that have changed with weddings over the years - it's also the technology.

Disposable cameras used to be the norm, but now there's an even simpler way for the bride and groom to get some candid photos of their special day.

Dalia Athisha from The Event Planner in Royal Oak suggests using hashtags (#) and wedding apps.  The first step is deciding on a hashtag and informing guests to use it every time they post a picture on social media including twitter, instagram, and facebook.  After the wedding, the bride and groom can click on the hashtag and see all of the photos their guests posted.

For couples concerned about privacy, wedding apps are another option.

The trick is alerting friends and family to download the app, in which, Athisha says requires some planning.  "You could do it through your response cards," she says. "Or add an insert in your invitation, or save the date cards. You can even create your own website."

And if couples are concerned no one will use the apps or hashtags, Athisha suggests adding a social media coordinator to the wedding party.
