TROY, Mich. (WJBK) - Troy police are warning people to be on the lookout for a couple snatching wallets at various locations across Michigan. Crimes have been reported in Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and the Holland area. In Troy, a victim reported her wallet stolen from her purse while shopping at a Kohl's store. The victim says the black male suspected approached her and started asking questions to distract her. While the victim was distracted, a black woman stole the victim's wallet from her purse.

Immediately after the theft, the suspects used the victim's credit cards to purchase gift cards at various merchants including Target and Best Buy. These gift cards are then used to purchase computers and other electronic devices.

According to police, this distraction crew was on a "crime spree" across Michigan July 5-8. The suspect vehicle is a red sedan possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix. The female suspect appears to be wearing hospital scrubs (light blue and black) during these thefts. The male suspect is possibly in his late 40's. A third suspect described as a black male is the getaway driver.

Anyone with information on these suspects should call Troy police at (248) 680-7283 or the Troy police anonymous tip line at (248) 524-0777.
