Time is running out for Minnesotans who hope to showcase their talents at the great Minnesota get-together this summer and compete for nearly $10,000 in prize money that will be awarded this year.

Registration for the Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest auditions will close on July 28, and prospective participants are being encouraged to register online. Entry forms can also be downloaded and sent in via mail, but they must be in by the 4 p.m. deadline to be considered.

Judges plan to select 30 acts for the pre-teen division, 30 talented teen acts, and fill an additional 60 open slots.

JOIN THE CONVERSATION: What skill would you showcase?

Auditions will begin immediately on July 28 and will run through Aug. 3 at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell, which is located on fairgrounds. They will begin at 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The semifinalists chosen to perform will appear during the first 9 evenings of the Minnesota State Fair for 6 p.m. shows at the stage. Each day, the first and second place will advance, and winners will compete in the finals at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 21.
