The metro saw an even cooler July day in 2013

Posted: Updated:

We set a record cold high temperature on Monday July 14th in the Twin Cities with a high of 65°. This was the coldest July 14th since 1884. St. Cloud and Eau Claire both set record cold highs as well, but both of their broken records were set just in the last few years, so it seems a little less impressive.

But these cool highs aren’t all that unprecedented. The Twin Cities actually experienced an even cooler day last year on July 27th with a high of 64°. In 2009, we had 2 days with highs in the 60’s. Granted, all of these numbers are well below the average, but we always think of July as a consistently hot and sultry month. I’d say the last couple years have proved that to be a misconception. Here is a look at the top 10 coldest July fourteenths on record for the three cities.
