Pasadena Shooting: Family Says Father, Daughter And Good Samaritan Killed

(FOX 11) Chaos unfolded on this quiet Pasadena street after police say a gunman opened fire on a family because of a "landlord-tenant dispute"

"I was playing video games in my room and I heard a girl screaming," 11-year-old Jonathan Perez said.

Perez says he ran out of his home after hearing what get thought were fireworks.

"that's when my mom came and then the cop told us to run inside the house and that's when the gunman started shooting straight to us and it hit a cop car," Perez said.

Pasadena Police say 44-year-old John Izeal Smith shot more than 40 rounds with a semi automatic rifle. The bullet holes can be seen in a number homes on the street. Shattered glass where a bullet took out this car window.

In all, police say five people were shot, three killed. A family member retuning to the home with flowers tells us 90-year-old Luis Aguiar was the first victim. He points out two bullet holes in the window outside the bedroom. Aguiar's daughter 59-year-old Maria Teresa Aguiar was the second victim. Police say a Good Samaritan, who tried to help her was also shot and killed.

Patrick Miltoni says witnessed the shootings.

"They were checking on her and then he shot one more time, one of the guys got hit," Miltoni said.

"Everyone was trying to help her. He was just a good guy who tried to help," Miltoni said of the Good Samaritan.

Silvia Garcia, is a close friend of Señor Luis and his daughter. She says they were very active in the church.

"I feel I want to cry, but I want to keep on. I feel to sad in my heart. He was like my father. He was always taking care of my family and my family him," Garcia said after placing flowers at the doorstep.

"We are going to pray for the three of them who pass away so thy have a good life in the other life," Garcia said

There was brief standoff before Smith turned himself in to police. He's being held on $1 million bond.

Pasadena Police will hold a press conference at their headquarters at 11:00 Monday with more information on the other victims.
