DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

A 6 year old boy with sickle cell anemia is not letting his disease slow him down. Fox 2 has followed KJ's progress for years and thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation, he and his family have a lot to smile about!

Fox 2 followed KJ on his journey from DMC Children's Hospital where he was receiving monthly blood transfusions to Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor where doctors recommended a new way to treat the disease, a bone marrow and stem cell transplant. Now, KJ is doing better. His immune system is making its own red and white blood cells. He's going back to school and soon he'll be headed to Disney World for the first time courtesy of the Make a Wish Foundation.
