All-Star Fan Fest: Scott Leuis

Posted: Updated:

There are plenty of former Minnesota Twins who will be taking part in All-Star weekend. Scott Leius stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 8th inning in Game 2 of the 1991 World Series and changed the complexity of the series.

With the game tied at two and both Kevin Tapani of the Twins and Tom Glavine of the Braves cruising on the mound, Leius sent the first pitch he saw over the plexi-glass in left field giving the Twins a 3-2 win and a 2-0 series lead.

“I asked Terry Crowley, our hitting coach if I should take a pitch because you don’t want to make a quick out. He didn’t know, he looked at T.K. (Twins Manager Tom Kelly) and he didn’t’ answer him,” said Leuis. “So ironically it was the first pitch that Tom threw that I hit was lucky enough to put a good swing on and hit it out.”

Leuis who played for the Twins from 1990 through 1995 joined Tim Blotz at Fan Fest on Friday night.
