Local "singing truck driver" becomes internet sensation

Posted: Updated:
Orlando, FL - Many amateur singers ply their trade belting out tunes in the shower and at karaoke bars or just as they drive.

Few of them ever turn that into true singing success!
However there is one Volusia County man whose homegrown vocals are tearing up the internet right now.

Brad James is a trucker.
"Eat... sleep... shower and… you know get up to start my next run," said James.

James says his life on the road mean a lot of time away from his wife and the things they used to love doing together.

"My wife and I used to go out signing karaoke all the time before I went on the road.  Then after I went on the road…we just couldn't do that anymore," said James.

But at the end of last year Brad made a little change to his road routine and started singing karaoke and recorded it into his IPhone.
It's a fairly simple process.

He takes a microphone, headset and IPhone and records a song. Then James records the video of himself lip-syncing to the song.

James say he sings trucking songs which he and his wife love.

"I put in on Facebook so that she you know, she could see it. So that she could hear it,"

But at first James didn't realize who could see his Facebook feed.

"I thought only I could see it," said James.

Just a few songs in and he realized he was wrong; over 20,000 views on some videos.

He even started a separate Facebook fan page.

"I'm growing one hundred to two hundred people a day," said James.
He even earned a nickname, “The Singing Truck Driver."
"I've already talked with a studio in Nashville about doing a CD as an independent artist,"

Perhaps James can put his hobby into an even higher gear.
