Mysterious caller offers to install software on family's home computer

Posted: Updated:

A family says a stranger tried to get into their home and their computer claiming he worked for their child’s school.

The family tells FOX 5 the man said he had to install learning software on their computer.

A woman received the phone call Wednesday morning and the caller told her that the learning software was for her son, who is getting ready to enter kindergarten this year.

The woman tells FOX 5 the caller had lots of personal information about her and her family.

Clayton County school officials say they have no idea who the caller is.

The family says the man told them the educational software is called “The National School Curriculum” and it’s made by a well-known educational company.

FOX 5 has not been able to verify a computer program by that name even exists.
