Wildfires burning way up north, and I mean way up north in the Northwest Territories of Canada, will affect us here in the Upper Midwest, but not in a bad way. The smoke plume from fires burning in the dense Boreal Forest Northwest Canada is riding south on the Jetstream and will soon be over us here in Minnesota.

The burning of this very dense forest vegetation results in a thick white smoke that can even be seen from space.

There is no need to grab your masks or lock yourself in your house for this second hand smoke. However, you may notice a hazy shade of summer over the next few days as the plume of smoke continues its journey across North America. The hazy cloud of smoke will actually benefit us by enhancing  our sunrises and sunsets over the next few days.

We will love to see your weather pics. Please email them to photos@fox9.com
