Woman attacked at Edgewood shopping center

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. - Investigators are looking for a young black male who brutally attacked a woman on Saturday at the Edgewood Retail Center. The victim says she had just parked her car in the underground garage, when the attacker came up from behind and punched her in the jaw. The assault almost knocked her unconscious.

"I came to and someone said 'don't look up or we'll shoot you' and I said, 'just take everything'," the woman told FOX 5 News. She declined to be identified.

The woman was able to get away and run into a nearby Target store for help. The attacker was able to steal the woman's brand-new Mercedes SUV, along with her purse and some medications.

The victim says her attacker had short-cropped hair and was wearing a green shirt.

"We want to try and do everything we can to identify those that are responsible and bring them to justice," says Major Timothy Peek of the Atlanta Police Department.

"We have definitely increased some of the patrols," says Peek, "we're looking at the possibility of creating a specific detail call that would be responsible for working that area."

The black SUV still had the dealer tags on it and has yet to be recovered. If you have any information, you can call the Atlanta Police Department.
