ST. PAUL ROOTS

The annual event, typically held in St. Paul, showcases tons of local cuisine and beverages for visitors’ tasting pleasure had to seek a new location as significant flooding is expected to continue on the island.

The festival hasn’t been back since 2010 after International Event Management, LLC had to file for bankruptcy, owing its creditors $1.6 million according to paperwork filed in early January 2011.

Ron Maddox managed the festival from 1983 though 2008 and the family has returned to operate Taste this year. Maddox died in 2010 but his wife, Linda, joined the team in 1996 and played an integral part in the festival's operations until International Event Management took over.
