New Ford CEO gets paid

Posted: Updated:

Ford's new CEO Mark Fields will be paid about 9 per cent more than his old job.

Fields will receive a salary of $1.75 million, stock options totaling $12 million, and about $3.5 million if he meets his benchmarks. As for his competition, GM's Mary Barra has a base salary of $1.6 million and her total compensation may top $14 million and Chrysler's Sergio Marchionne received $5 million last year in salary-bonus and incentives with stock options worth $25-million.

With that big salary comes difficult times, especially for Barra, who will testify before the Senate subcommittee regarding consumer protection, product safety, and insurance.
