Officer Accused Of Pushing Man In Wheelchair Keeps Job

Posted: Updated:

Lafayette, IN- An Indiana police officer accused of knocking over a man in a wheelchair last year will be able to keep his job.

For the first time, we are seeing video of the October 1st incident.

Officers were called to a Lafayette Charter school after reports of an armed man.

When officers arrived, they found Nicholas Kincade,25, with a pocket knife in his possession.

Authorities asked Kincade to leave the scene.

As Kincade moved forward, he allegedly ran over Lieutenant Tom Davidson's foot.

That’s when Davidson is accused of pushing the man and the wheelchair, which caused the chair to tip over.

An internal investigation found the officer in violation of department policy and recommended Davidson be fired.

However, a merit board disagreed.

They have decided to give Davidson a 30-day unpaid suspension, a demotion, and one year probation.
