STILLWATER, Minn. (KMSP) -

Good news for commuters in Stillwater – the Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to reopen the Stillwater Lift Bridge in both directions Wednesday afternoon 4 p.m. just in time for the evening commute.

The lift bridge connects Minnesota and Wisconsin and forced a lot of drivers to take long detours since its closure on June 23 when water levels on the St. Croix became too high.

101, 41 STILL CLOSED

Two major road closures remain in place in the southwest metro. MnDOT's transportation commissioner Charlie Zelle says Highway 101 in Shakopee and Highway 41 in Chaska will not reopen before the Fourth of July due to flooding on the Minnesota River. Both are expected to open next week.
