Pit Bull And Puppies Rescued From Hot Car

Posted: Updated:

Fort Myers, Fla.-Good Samaritans in Florida helped save a Pit Bull and her puppies on Sunday.

Passerby Ruth Sawyer called police after she and her husband saw the momma Pit Bull inside a parked U-Haul truck.

Also inside, were her seven puppies, which were all trapped in the truck in 97 degree weather.

Police got the dogs out just in time, but many of dogs were dehydrated. Luckily, they are all doing well now.

“Oh, my heart just broke. I could not believe someone would leave puppies like this in a truck for so long,” Sawyer said."It was just crying hysterically. It couldn't even bark it was so dehydrated."

Sawyer hopes the mother dog and her puppies go to a caring forever home.

"I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and God intends on a good home for these dogs and to bring happiness to a family,” Sawyer said.

The dog's owner claims he was only away from the truck for ten minutes.

He faces animal cruelty charges.
