Lost Prosthetic Leg Returned To Owner

Posted: Updated:

KINGSTON, WA-A lost prosthetic leg was returned to its owner in Washington on Monday.

Hannah Listle found the leg after it washed ashore in Kingston the night before.

She posted the discovery on Facebook in hopes of finding it’s owner.

Turns out, the leg belongs to Megan Smith, who was swimming in the area.

Smith says she was half way to shore when she realized her leg was gone and she was looking for it in the water for quite some time.

"I cried and then I laughed I was so jittery and so excited I couldn't wait to get it back,” said Smith. "It's like getting your leg back, and it's what I use every day."

"So we were trying to hit the low tide beach, so we could beach comb and see what we could find and I saw a foot first,” said Listle."I feel good, I think it's really great, hearing her story about the leg and everything like that it was very heartwarming to know, and was able to get it back to her.”

Smith says she swims with her prosthetic all the time and this is the first time it's ever come off.
