Rescue Cat Makes 2,400 Mile Journey With Help Of Microchip

It's said that cats have nine lives.

Popeye is a one eyed, one toothed senior kitty, who's used up a good bit of them.

Popeye's story starts in 2007 when FurKids took him in.

The odds were already stacked against him.

He had one eye and was FIV positive.

Still, Popeye got adopted.

"He was moved out to ca with his new family and the family had to move to Ohio so they left Popeye behind in ca with some family," said Nicole Neill of FurKids.

But his luck would soon run out again.

"Unfortunately he got out or escaped, we don't know what happened," said Neill.

He was out on the streets in California.

His health issues would make it difficult to fend for himself for long.

But someone stumbled upon Popeye.

He was taken to a California clinic, where they discovered his microchip.

It was traced back to FurKids, in Georgia.

"With FurKids we have a policy that we will always take our cats back no matter what," explained Neill.

So they flew out to get him, and bring him back home.

2400 miles later, he's being treated at the Cat Clinic of Roswell, though his remaining eye is badly infected, all but one tooth had to be pulled, and a respiratory infection is currently being treated

FurKids say his microchip saved one of his nine lives, now he just needs someone to give him a loving home where he can live out the rest of them.

Furkids says getting a microchip for your pet is an inexpensive and simple procedure that could save the life of your pet.
