Video: Woman Tries To Light Bus Passenger's Hair Ablaze
MARYSVILLE, Wash. – A bus ride almost turns into a hair-raising experience for one Washington woman.
Police say Robin Myers sat down behind a former friend on the Community Transit bus in Marysville on Monday.
In bus surveillance video released by the transit agency later in the week, it seems Myers tried to light the woman's hair on fire using a canister of hairspray and a lighter.
A man sitting next to the victim saw what was happening and used his hand to put out the fire.
"It's just, you know, something that happened. On any given day you have some strange incident happen on a bus," Community Transit spokesman Martin Munguia said.
Munguia said the driver immediately called for security to come, pulled over and waited for Snohomish County sheriff's deputies to arrive.
"And safety of our passengers is definitely a high priority," he added. "We carry about 40,000 people a day, and so there's always interactions. And some get a little hotter than others. And so, this happened on Monday. Fortunately, the deputies responded quickly."
Myers has been charged with assault and banned from riding Community Transit buses.
