TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man has been ordered jailed until his trial on charges that he was involved in the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol agent whose death exposed the botched federal gun sting known as Operation Fast and Furious.

Lionel Portillo-Meza was ordered detained until his trial after a federal magistrate ruled Thursday that Portillo-Meza was at serious risk of fleeing from authorities.

Portillo-Meza is one of five men to be charged in the 2010 death of Agent Brian Terry near Nogales, Arizona.

Authorities say the firefight that killed Terry erupted as armed men had walked toward a group of agents and opened fire.

Portillo-Meza is only the second suspect to face justice in the United States.

Two other men remain fugitives.

Another man who is in Mexican custody awaits extradition.
