Teen Neighbor Charged In Olney Double Stabbing

Posted: Updated:

A teenager has been charged in connection with the stabbing of two neighbors this week inside their Olney home, police say.

The stabbing occurred before 5 a.m. Wednesday on the 5900 block of North Fourth Street.

The victims were a 71-year-old woman, found stabbed 15 to 20 times, and a 54-year-old man stabbed in the chest and abdomen.

Both were originally rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition, but they were later upgraded to serious condition.

Charged is 18-year-old Anthony Waters, who lives on the same block of Fourth Street. Authorities say that he entered the property by way of an unlocked rear door and stabbed both complainants after he was surprised by them inside the residence.

Investigators allege that Waters intended to steal the keys to the female resident's car so he could sell it.

Waters was taken in for questioning after he was found at the scene using a garden hose to wash blood of the sidewalk and the female victim, police said.

Detectives searched his home later in the day.

FOX 29's Bruce Gordon spoke to Lisa Waters, the teen's mother, who said her son was simply trying to help the victim.

"He was in the basement and the window had broken in the basement and, you know, my window is broke down there," Lisa Waters said. "And he said he kept hearing them, 'Help, help, help.' So he ran out."

Investigators said they initially had a hard time figuring out what happened as the home is filled with trash and debris from the third floor to the basement.

There were also numerous cats throughout the house. The SPCA was called in to take possession of the cats and kittens.

Police said Waters faces counts of attempted murder, aggravated and simple assault, robbery, burglary, theft and related charges.
