Bull Shark Found In Florida Pond

Posted: Updated:
BREVARD COUNTY, FL - A bull shark in Florida found a new home inside a local pond. No one knows exactly how the 4-foot bull shark ended up in the pond in Gleason Park in Brevard County.

There were reports that surfaced several months ago that a shark was living in the pond, but the idea seemed to be impossible. City officials didn't believe it was swimming there.

Eric Larson, of Indian Harbor Beach Public Works said, "I finally saw it on the other side of the park. I was cleaning the drain pipe, and it came swimming by. So, I called my boss and told him, 'We do have the shark in the lake.'"

The city has enlisted the help of a trapper to help remove the shark and put him in an environment more suitable for home.

"He told me, 'Are you here for the shark?' And I'm thinking to myself, 'These guys must be on drugs and alcohol, because I've never heard of anything like this," said the trapper, James Deans.

So far, there have been attempts to capture the shark, but they haven’t been successful.

"The shark's habit, so far, he likes swimming around and avoiding me," Deans said.
