It may sound worse than it is, but the Polar Vortex people in the Northeast heard so much about last winter is already concerning some as it gets set to return this summer. Meteorologist Mike Woods says there is no need to worry, just be aware of the possible weather changes to come.  "A big dip in the jet stream could set us up for severe weather mainly Tuesday," said Woods.

The National Weather Service issued several weather alerts -- including Flood Watches and Warnings and Severe Thunderstorms Warnings -- for a second day in a row for the New York and New Jersey area because of powerful storms.  The Flash Flood Watch remained in effect for certain counties until Friday, July 4, at noon.

The tristate region is getting an early taste of summer even though the season doesn't officially begin until Saturday.

Temperatures were in the 70s and 80s before the morning rush in New York. The mercury was expected to hit the middle 90s in parts of the New Jersey on Wednesday.

A heat advisory is in effect for the Garden State from noon until 7 p.m. for Mercer, Gloucester, Camden and northwest Burlington counties.

Forecasters say the heat and humidity will combine in those areas to make it feel like it's in the mid to upper 90s.

People are advised to wear light clothing and drink plenty of water.

There's a chance for rain to cool things down Wednesday night.
