CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -

The manhunt for a 36-year-old man who fled from Woodstock police ended in Lamar County on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Lamar County Sheriff's Office, deputies were involved in a pursuit with Billy Lee Owens who was driving a dump truck early Wednesday. Owens allegedly ditched the truck along Perkins Drive.

Owens was arrested just before 6:00 p.m. at a gas station. He denied stealing the dump truck and told FOX 5 he was "happy to be here."

On Tuesday, authorities were attempting to arrest Owens in Cherokee County on multiple charges, ranging from burglary to felony possession of a firearm, in Fayette, Pike, Meriwether and Cherokee counties.
