SEPTA Regional Rail Back On Track Following Strike

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Thousands of SEPTA riders are feeling relief Monday morning after Regional Rail workers ended their strike before the start of another busy commuter workweek.

The rail lines began moving again early Sunday and are running as scheduled Monday despite that quick weekend strike.

The nearly 450 engineers and electrical workers called for a strike at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

But they were forced back to work after the White House stepped in stopping, the less than 24-hour work stoppage.

The presidential emergency board, comprised of three people experienced in labor disputes, will help mediate contract stalemates between SEPTA and its unions.

The board appointed by the president meets for a series of hearings the week of June 23 and reports back to Obama by July 14.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley is reporting live Monday morning from Center City with the details.
