MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Yes it’s a full moon, and it happens about every 29 days, but how often does it fall on a Friday the 13th? The answer is, “Not often”. So far this century, it has happened once, back on October 13, 2000 and according the experts, we won't see another Friday the 13th full moon until 2049. Think about it, the moon has to be:  A) Full  B) Fall on the 13th and  C) have both of those fall on a Friday. Those dates are harder to pin down than a greased pig at a sausage factory. Its actually a close call this year as the exact moment of the full moon will be on the 13th in the Eastern Time zones and on Thursday the 12th from the Central Time Zone and Westward.

The June full moon is called the Honey moon. The name derives from the hives being full of honey at this time of the year. It will also be at the lowest point in sky for a full moon this year, just 21 degrees above the horizon compared to the moon’s highest point of 68 degrees above the horizon in mid-Winter.
