BURNSVILLE, Minn. (KMSP) - A gorgeous peacock strutted its stuff in Burnsville over the weekend, but although the sight was much to the delight of Burnsville, Minn., photographer Joey Pederson, the bird's owner wants her feathered friend back.

Debbie McBride says Chester the peacock is hers. She got him 15 years ago from the Minnesota Zoo and he lives at her hobby farm in Lakeville.

"They knew us," she explained. "They knew we had a hobby farm so they said, 'You want a peacock?' And we said yes. Chester's been with us for a long time."

Chester has been allegedly spotted within an approximately 3-mile radius, and McBride figures that's because he can hear his mate, Ruby, calling from the roof at night.

"We're tracking him," McBride said. "People will say, 'I just saw him on 155th!' I'll run down there, but by that time, he's walked off."

While sitting on her computer, Pederson caught a glimpse of what she thought was a turkey walking past her window, but she discovered it was a beautiful peacock. Pederson said a cat ruffled Chester's feathers as he retreated to a nearby deck, then onto the roof.

Chester allowed Pederson to photograph him for nearly 30 minutes over the weekend. While the cat was not a welcomed acquaintance, Chester didn't seem to mind neighborhood kids or Pederson's camera.

Anyone with information on Chester's whereabouts can contact McBride by calling 952-847-0256 or via e-mail.

"It would be so nice to have him back," McBride said. "We're trying."

McBride said Chester flew the farm a few weeks ago to escape a fox. Now, she hopes someone will help the family reunite.

"I can see people just wanting to keep him around and feed him and stuff, which is OK," McBride said, adding that the trick isn't just catching him -- it's catching up to him. "If we can get a phone call, if we can come down and get him and bring him back, his mate is pretty upset."
