Posted: Updated:

New Kensington, Pa.- A little boy in western Pennsylvania was suspended from school, after he accidentally brought a toy gun to class.

When 7-year-old Darin Simak realized he had brought the gun to school, right away he took it to his teacher, according to his parents.

The boy thought he was doing the right thing.

But soon after, school officials called the parents, and said their son wasn't allowed back in class.

"I never claimed to be a perfect parent.,” said the boy’s mother, Jennifer Mathabel. "I didn't raise a perfect child."

The boy's mother says Darin did the right thing by turning it over to the teacher.

"Handed it over, and said I’m not supposed to have this,” said Mathabel. “She said that he could not come back to school. I sent him the next day anyway.

The child has finished serving his suspension and he will be in class for the last day of school.
