Cincinnati Police Dash-Cam Captures Dogs' Attack On Child

Posted: Updated:

CINCINNATI, O.H.- A six-year-old girl in Cincinnati is in critical but stable condition, after being mauled by two pit bulls earlier this week.

Officers pulling onto the scene on Monday, captured the graphic attack on a dash board camera.

Police rushed out of the car to assist 6-year-old Zaniabou Drame, scaring the dogs off her.

The three officers say they were forced to shoot and kill the dogs.

"There's a dog at 2965 Aquadale and and it's a pit bull and he's eating up a little baby," said the 911 caller.

"It was two dogs. I looked like they were playing with a light-weight chew toy," described Cincinnati Police Officer Kyle Strunk.

"One of the officers went around one side of her. When he did that, the brown dog saw him, let go of the child and went towards him. That's when he was able to start firing shots," Officer Strunk added.

"One of the officers was as heroic a person as I've ever seen in my entire life. Held her in his arms, saved her life. The way he held her, he held her hand and talked to her," Strunk said of his comrade's actions.

"It's the worst thing I've ever seen in almost 10 years as a police officer. It's really indescribable and something no person should ever have to see and something we'll never forget," added Strunk in describing the severity of the incident.

Zaniabou has severe injuries to her face and neck, but is expected to survive.

The investigation into the attack continues.
