Posted: Updated:
CHERRY VALLEY (CNS) - A brush fire that erupted today along the  perimeter of a Cherry Valley park burned 50 acres and was 50 percent contained.  There were no reports of injuries or structures threatened.

The blaze was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the 9600 block of Cherry Avenue, near Bridge Street, on the south end of Bogart County Park, according
to the Riverside County Fire Department. Seven engine crews and six inmate hand crews, numbering around 120 fire
personnel, were working to contain the fire, with the help of two air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter.

The helicopter had just left another wildfire that was knocked down in the area of Juniper Flats, according to reports from the scene. A fire department official described vegetation around the park as "medium to heavy." There was no word on what triggered the blaze.
