Man and goat walk across America

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A Washington state man is taking a walk to remember with an unlikely companion.  Steve Wescott is walking across America with his goat named Leroy Brown.

They departed from the Space Needle in Seattle more than two years ago.  Some days they travel as little as four miles.  They've made it to St. Louis, so far.

On the best days, they might get 20 miles down the road, depending on the goat's mood and the the number of people who stop to talk to them.

Wescott says, "I'm walking 3,800 miles across the country to raise money for an orphanage my friend and I started in Nairobi, Kenya.  He's there with the kids. I'm here with the goat."

They plan to end their walk in Times Square here in New York City.  Maybe the goat can do a duet with the Naked Cowboy!

The goal of the walk is to raise $200,000 to buy a farm to feed teh children at the orphanage.

Things are looking up for cute little Cami King. Not only is her cancer in remission, she also just got to meet Mickey, Minnie and Elmo in Times Square. But, if you can believe it, there's something else this 4-year-old is even more excited about: Times Square is going gold. The chairman of the Times Square Advertising Coalition announced the crossroads of the world is going to light up in gold to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
