The widespread 2 to 4 inches of rain across the metro early Sunday has seen Minnehaha Creek to its highest level in years and is now flowing more than 4 times higher than normal. Nearly 600 cubic feet of water per second are now tumbling toward the Mississippi which makes this creek flow more like a rapid. Look at how fast the waters have risen… and with more rain expected Sunday and Monday, the creek could go even higher.

Stay away from the creek the next few days as large fluctuations in water levels are still likely especially with more rain on the way. It can also be very dangerous because of quicker speeds and debris that may have been picked up.
