MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

The Twins announced on Sunday they will dedicate Target Field’s press conference room and a youth baseball field to longtime Minnesota sports reporting legend Sid Hartman.

Hartman, 93, was honored during a special pregame ceremony at Target Field before the Twins faced the Seattle Mariners.

The room, which serves as Target Field’s primary venue for press conferences, will now be called the Sid Hartman Press Conference Room.

A youth baseball field located at Northeast Athletic Park in north Minneapolis will also be renamed Sid Hartman All-Star Field and renovated as part of the All-Star Game Legacy Giving project. The field will be used by RBI leagues and for high school games.

“The Twins are proud to honor Sid’s many contributions to the Minnesota sports scene during his long and illustrious career,” Twins president Dave St. Peter said in a news release. “Sid’s contributions to the Minnesota sports scene are second to none and the team and our fans are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize his storied career.”
