2 metro police officers injured in weekend chases

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Two police officers in the Twin Cities were injured in two separate chases this weekend.

ST. PAUL

A St. Paul police officer suffered minor injuries after a chase that happened around 4 p.m. in the Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood on Saturday.

Police were stopping at a home as part of an investigation when two men bolted. During the pursuit, a squad car crashed into a parked car. One suspect is currently in jail and will make his initial court appearance on Monday.

MINNEAPOLIS

A Minneapolis police officer is injured in a chase early Saturday morning after a driver took off from an alleged domestic disturbance on the 2200-block of Pierce Avenue NE.

When police tried to stop the suspect, an officer was struck by one of the car doors. The chase ended in Golden Valley when the suspect vehicle hit a tree. He was ultimately arrested after attempting to flee on-foot.

The officer was brought to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries and is recovering. The suspect was also treated for non-life threatening injuries.
