Target Field light rail station is finally open

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Metro Transit has added a sparkling new addition to its roster with the grand opening of the Target Field Station.

This area was a mere plot of asphalt until construction began August 2012. Today, the grand opening marks access to the new light rail station but it will function as a transit hub. The station includes a platform that will serve new Green Line trains which will start running June 14 between Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The hub will integrate multiple forms of transportation, there are even racks and ramps for bikers and Nice Ride bikers as well. One of the huge draws is a station amphitheater which is expected to add to the attraction of Target Field during the baseball season.

The $80 million investment will easily connect through the METRO Blue Line, Northstar Commuter Rail and the METRO Green Line.
