LAKEVILLE, Minn. (KMSP) -

Human bones found in Ritter Farm Park on Thursday have been identified as the remains of 50-year-old Christopher Bellino, Lakeville police confirmed Friday.

Bellino was reported missing on Aug. 3, 2012. Three weeks later, Lakeville police recovered his car from a Target parking lot not far from the park, but Bellino was never found.

Police were called to Ritter Farm Park at about 2 p.m. Thursday after a group of high school students on a field orienteering trip with the Minnesota Army National Guard found a skull and some bones.

The remains were turned over the Hennepin County medical examiner for identification. No foul play is suspected in Bellino's death, but the cause of death remains under investigation.
