Passersby rescue man from burning car on Highway 169

TOWER, Minn. (KMSP) -

A St. Joseph, Minn. man was rescued from his car by two passersby after it rolled into a ditch and burst into flames off Highway 169 in St. Louis County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 44-year-old Carlo Theisen was driving east on Highway 169 near Tower, Minn. around 8:30 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of his Honda Civic, entered the north-side ditch and rolled over.

Two people approaching the scene of the crash saw Theisen’s car on fire and rushed to help. Theisen was pulled from the car and airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
