LAKEVILLE, Minn. (KMSP) -

Lakeville police were called to Ritter Farm Park on Thursday after what is believed to be human bones were found there.

Police were called to the scene at about 2 p.m. and said they believe the bones have been in the park for some time. Officers said there is no threat to park visitors or residents nearby.

Few other details have been released, but a police source confirmed to Fox 9 News that a skull and bones were located and may have been in the area for more than 6 months.

The following agencies are currently involved in the investigation:

- Lakeville Police Department
- Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office
- Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension

Ritter Farm Park is the biggest in the city and is known for rustic, natural views.

"There are horse trails, walking path, archery, apple orchard, deer, rabbits -- I actually got married here 12 years ago," Michelle Moschkau said.

Moschkau usually walks her dog in the park 15-20 times a year, but she was turned away by police on Thursday afternoon.

"I was very shocked, surprised," she admitted. "That's the last thing I thought would be here."

Even so, she told Fox 9 News she isn't frightened by the find.

"I want to know why," Moschkau explained. "It doesn't worry me. I'm not worried about serial killers or violence. It's not a violent park. It's just a park. I'm thinking suicide or something crazy like that."
