Kane's OT goal ends shot at finals for Wild

Posted: Updated:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - Patrick Kane netted an OT goal to deliver the Blackhawks up 2-1 over the Wild and onto the Western Conference finals. Kane sent the puck into the top of the net for the Game 6 victory at the Xcel Energy Center to close out the best-of-seven series 4-2.

“We were all kind of in shock that happened,” left wing Zach Parise said of the game's brutal end. “It’s not the way you envision – I guess you never envision losing, but you don’t envision that happening and losing a series because of that.”

The Wild generated plenty of chances  to score and pushed the pace all night against the defending Stanley Cup champs, but after that strange bounce off the glass from Brent Seabrook, Kane flipped it in.

“We fell behind 1-0 early in the game, and we fought back, we had a lot of chances, we couldn’t score one, and we obviously got a bad bounce at the end, but like I said, we had enough chances to win the game and I think we definitely left it all out on the line,” right wing Nino Neiderreiter said.

The Hawks have reached the Western Conference finals for the fourth time in the last six seasons, and will take on either the Anaheim Ducks or the Los Angeles Kings.

Ultimately, however, fans from both sides at the X cheered on their respective teams when the game ended partly a testament to a productive Wild 2014 season.
