Disorderly Passenger Forces Flight To Return To PHL

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - A flight from Philadelphia to London was back in the air Wednesday morning after being forced to turn around last night because of a disorderly passenger.

Airport police confirm that US Airways flight 728 took off around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, 30 minutes after its scheduled time, then got as far as about Cape Cod before it turned around and landed back at Philadelphia International Airport between midnight and one 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The passenger, who we're told was apparently intoxicated, was taken off the plane and placed in custody.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley reported that, according to authorities, the passenger was also accused of a groping and was said to be bothering female passengers. He was not immediately identified.

The plane then needed to refuel before taking off again at 3 a.m., putting it five hours behind schedule. It's back in the air this morning on its way to London and expected to land at 10 a.m. our time.

One pilot told Keeley that, until they stop serving alcohol on planes and in airport lounges, situations like this will continue to occur.
