BLUE EARTH, Minn. (KMSP) -

A priest who admitted to molesting a girl at her grandmother’s house was deported Wednesday, back to his native India.

Rev. Leo Koppala pled guilty last March to fondling a girl under the age of 13. Koppala was a priest in Blue Earth County while attending a dinner at her grandmother’s home.

The 48-year-old was a priest at the Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul in Blue Earth and at St. Mary’s in Winnebago.

Koppala was sentenced to 25 years of supervised probation.

Koppala was escorted by ICE officers on a commercial flight and turned over to Indian authorities in New Delhi. It’s not clear what restrictions he’ll be under in his native India.
